When it comes to using Cantilever Pumps, efficiency and reliability aren't usually the first things that come to mind. The PumpEng ScatPump® range represents a significant industry change in the performance standards of processing pumps.

PumpEng is experiencing major success with the ScatPump® in the processing industries. The reasons for this were recently summarised by the Area Manager for processing at a major mining company in Western Australia. The mine has switched over to the ScatPump® slurry submersible pumps as a replacement for the existing pumps that were struggling to handle the operating conditions.

“The ScatPump® pumps are performing excellently in carrying out their duty and doing exactly as we require them to do. The previous pumps had a two-stage operation where the first stage they agitated the material in the liquid and the second stage, they pumped. With the ScatPump®, it doesn't need agitation prior to pumping. They just agitate as they pump, resulting in continuous pumping. This means that the pumps are able to keep up with high demand, maintain lower levels of liquid in the sumps, which means the faster recovery of the water into that water circuit.

There is also a safety factor to add in there. The ScatPump® pumps maintain a lower level in the sump and that means the operators aren't working around higher water levels.”

The PumpEng ScatPump® pumps are an extremely durable, top-discharge slurry submersible pumps with a mechanical agitator and wide clearances. The ScatPump® pumps use a heavy-duty 4-Pole continuous duty motor for added toughness. The pump has a straight path from intake to discharge, so the ScatPump® uses the pumped liquid to cool the motor.

The pump does not have an elbow joint like a side-discharge pump, so fewer surfaces can wear or potentially fail. It can also fit into tighter spaces. A ScatPump® has a built-in agitator to keep all particles suspended in the slurry, with the strainer designed to allow larger solids, of up to 30mm, to be pumped through also.  The pumping components of the ScatPump®, notably the agitator, impeller, and wear plate are constructed of high-chrome iron, meaning the ScatPump® is designed to be a reliable workhorse in any condition.

The ScatPump® is available in 4kW to 22kW and well suited for popular areas such as;

  • Mill Sumps
  • Fly Ash
  • Residue Ponds
  • Conveyor Sumps
  • Wash Down Sumps
  • Raise-bore/ Diamond Drilling
  • Stockpile Runoff Sumps

The ScatPump® is also available in a smaller version for those places where a submersible slurry pump is required, but the areas are too tight, introducing the "MiniScat". This model is available from .40kW through to a 2.2kW unit. The MiniScat also comes equipped with Smarts. The Smarts include incorrect direction detection (Available in three-phase models only), a level sensor which shuts off the pump and restarts once levels return, thermal shutdowns with a temperature adjuster to restart.

Combined with our high level of service and expertise, PumpEng ScatPump® is the natural choice for all your slurry submersible pump requirements.
